A Canadian organization is helping seniors in Amherstview through a grant to purchase specialized beds and mattreses.

The grant is to be presented byThe ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation to HELEN HENDERSON CARE CENTRE on Feb. 22.

“We want our residents to have the best quality of care. To do that, we are continually upgrading our medical equipment,” says Angela Gibson, Assistant Administrator. “This grant will help us purchase specialized equipment to enhance our residents’ quality-of-life as well as accommodate their unique medical needs. It is a wonderful gift to our residents and staff because it will maximize our quality improvements.”

The grant will be used to replenish beds and mattresses in the accredited long-term care home. It is a donation to Gibson Family Health Care Charitable Foundation which works to improve programs and services for residents of Helen Henderson Care Centre.

“These upgrades will help more than 104 residents today and thousands more over the next 20 years,” confirms Gibson. “New hospital beds will be used in the nursing home to help prevent falls and decrease the need for restraints. The new beds will have new and improved functions and features which will improve the health and wellbeing of residents in our care.”

The presentation will be held in the Fireside Room at Helen Henderson Care Centre at 10 am on Feb. 22. This event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
