96-year-old Mary Leggat sparkles with energy.

A resident of Helen Henderson Retirement Lodge for almost two years, Mary worked long hours to make hundreds of necklaces, earrings and bracelets for a jewelry sale on Aug. 12.

“I started working with jewelry when I couldn’t do ceramics any longer because of space restrictions,” says the proud Scotswoman from her sales table in the lodge lounge. “I decided to try something else and this is the result.”

Known for her quick wit and friendly smile, Mary (formerly Clan Campbell of Argyll) puts a lot of thought into each piece of jewelry which she finds relaxing to make.

“It sharpens your imagination,” she says with a smile.

To see Mary’s jewelry, residents are invited to visit her in the lodge in Room 104.
