A retirement home in Gananoque is showcasing its award winning programs and services at an open house this fall.

Carveth Retirement Lodge, an accredited retirement home in the 1000 Islands, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

The open house is part of a province-wide initiative by the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) to   showcase services for people looking for assisted living. The open house will also introduce residents and dedicated & dynamic staff.

Featuring the taste, sound and beauty of Canada, the Carveth Retirement Lodge Fall Open House will feature warm apple cider, fresh cinnamon buns and entertainment by local musicians. Admission is free and open to everyone.

“This open house is a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding lifestyle people can enjoy in retirement,” says Brett Gibson, Administrator. “From delicious food to clean rooms, comfortable surroundings and compassionate health care, our retirement lodge lets people live well, enjoy life and stay active.”

Managers and team members will be available to guide visitors through the layout to fully appreciate the living space such as the dining room, common areas, activity rooms, living quarters and more.

Speaking from her room in the lodge where she has lived for the past year is Colleen Woods, the home’s Open House Ambassador.

“It’s very nice here,” says the 93-year-old. “The girls who work here are helpful. They keep the home clean and comfortable.”

A proud mother and grandmother, Colleen was born and raised on a farm in Lansdowne. She is now enjoying retirement in the Carveth Lodge.

“I like all of the activities,” she explains. “I enjoy  puzzles and playing bingo. It keeps me thinking.”

“Colleen is always smiling,” says Lodge Manager Phyllis Lorbetskie. “Residents know her as friendly and positive. She is often seen enjoying the activities here and welcoming new residents. We are grateful to have her as part of the Carveth family.”

Smiling at the feedback, Colleen admits she is looking forward to welcoming residents to the Fall Open House on Oct. 20.

“This open house is a perfect time to drop-in and discover an environment that meets your current requirements as well as your future needs,” says the Administrator who is the third generation of his family to own and operate the home. “We want the community to see what makes Carveth Retirement Lodge special. Come home to Carveth and let our family care for your family.”
