A health care worker from Escott has been recognized for her good work.

Speaking from her home near Rockport, Kelly Forbes admits she is pleasantly surprised to be Employee of the Month at Carveth Care Centre for September 2021.

“I enjoy it,” the 41-year-old replies when asked about her work as a Personal Support Worker for the past 20 years at the accredited long-term home in Gananoque.

Known for her positive attitude, Kelly notes, “I enjoy interacting with the residents. I like hearing their stories.”

Speaking on behalf of the home, Director of Care Shelley Bender notes, “Kelly is always helping… She has an infectious laugh and smile. She is flexible and helps with the orientation of students. She also assists on committees such as continence. We are grateful for her good work.”

Kelly thinks of a lot of the home.

“I find Carveth very family-oriented. The staff does a lot with the residents,” she confirms.

When she’s not at work, Kelly enjoys boating and spending time with her family.

She hesitates when asked to describe herself.

“I have no idea,” she says kindly. “I try to be friendly. I’m also semi-active. My children play a lot of sports and I have to keep up with their hockey, soccer and baseball.”

Kelly is content to stay working at the accredited long-term care home for the rest of her career. She sees herself retiring from Carveth Care Centre someday.

“I’ve put in a lot of years. Why go anywhere now,” she says with a laugh.
