About Gibson Family Health Care
Gibson Family Health Care has provided retirement living and long-term care in Ontario since 1965. With facilities in Amherstview and Gananoque, they offer 24-hour nursing, dementia care, and retirement living options. Their homes feature private and shared rooms, on-site medical services, and amenities designed to support residents’ daily needs and quality of life. The Gibson family continues to lead with a focus on dignity, respect, and safe, comfortable surroundings.
Our Family
Our History
The Gibson family’s commitment to care began when Kingsley Gibson and his wife Joyce, a registered nurse, opened a 49-bed home in Seeley’s Bay in 1965. Their goal was to create a supportive and welcoming environment for seniors, grounded in respect and compassion. In 1971, their sons, Larry and Tim, took over ownership, and in 1978, the family relocated their long-term care home to Gananoque, expanding services to include both long-term care and retirement living. Over the decades, the organization has continued to grow while remaining true to its family-focused roots.
Our Philosophy
We believe that each resident deserves the highest quality of nursing care in a respectful and supportive environment. Care at Gibson Family Health Care focuses not only on physical needs, but also on emotional, spiritual, and social wellbeing. We emphasize a multi-disciplinary team approach that includes families in care planning and decision making. Our goal is to provide care that is measurable, monitored, and continuously improved to ensure the best outcomes for our residents.
Our Commitment to Care
Our vision is ‘Our family caring for your family.’ This statement guides everything we do. We believe a home-like environment and a compassionate atmosphere allow residents to feel comfortable and supported. Registered nurses and care staff are available 24 hours a day, and physicians visit regularly to support individualized care plans. We aim to deliver care with dignity, respect, and a focus on maintaining independence and quality-of-life.

Residents Charitable Foundation
The Gibson Family Health Care Charitable Foundation was designed to enhance the quality of life for residents at Carveth Care Centre. Every donation is used to enhance the comfort and care of our residents. Past donations to our home have helped us purchase new equipment which is appreciated and valued by residents.
Please support our charitable foundation and make a difference in the life of a resident.
Current projects that can use your help include:
- Our campaign to raise $5,000 to build recreational and leisure areas around the home (with shade where applicable).
- Purchase of a low air-flow mattress for people who are palliative or have wounds (cost is approx. $4,000). These mattresses help with wound healing and decrease pain and increase comfort at end of life.
- Enhancement of programs.
- Create and support excursions and activities.

Nice place with friendly staff. They have great activities for the residents as well as a rolling theme cart. They maintain the residents' dignity and right to as much of an independent lifestyle as the resident can have provided the resident's health is able to sustain such activities. They took good care of my mother in law until it was her time to go.

Both my mother and father have spent their last years here.

TESTIMONIALS
Helen Henderson Care Centre
As the wife of a resident who stayed at Helen Henderson Care for 16 months, I am immensely grateful for the outstanding care and support my husband received there.
From day one, the staff demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and genuine care, making a challenging period in our lives much more accessible. The nurses and caregivers were attentive and responsive to his needs, ensuring that he was always comfortable and well-cared for. The management team was also exceptional. They communicated clearly and constantly with us and addressed any concerns we had promptly and effectively. The facility was well-maintained, clean, and welcoming, contributing to a warm and positive environment. I highly recommend Helen Henderson Care to anyone looking for quality care for their loved ones. The team there truly goes above and beyond, and we sincerely appreciate their dedication and kindness.

My family member has had nothing but positive, exceptional care. I feel it is the best decision, I could have made, and I have seen her health improving ,and her spirits
lifted. They have always been open, and responsive, to any concerns or questions I have had. She is always raving, about how good her meals are, and she says" Everyone treats me so good, and they are all kind". They pay great attention to bathing, and personal care. Her room is always spotless!
Nothing warmed my heart more, than a few days ago, when she called it home.
My Mother is safe, and well cared for, and I would highly recommend Helen Henderson as a nurturing, and caring environment for your loved one. Every resident is important to them, that is my impression, and I can see it in how others are cared for as well.
