Housekeeper exemplifies Carveth's Circle of Care

5 August 2026

Celebrating the Employee of the Month at Carveth Care Centre

For Nicole Chisamore, caring for residents has never been limited to one role. Whether she was working as a Personal Support Worker or now as a valued member of the Housekeeping team, her focus has always remained the same – ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable and cared for.

Nicole first joined Carveth Care Centre in 2008. After leaving for a short period, she returned as a PSW before transitioning to the Housekeeping Department about two years ago. Having worked in multiple departments, she has gained a unique appreciation for the important role every employee plays in the home's success.

"I loved both being a PSW and working in the Housekeeping Department," Nicole said. "You never truly know the level of difficulty someone experiences in their role until you've worked in that department yourself."

She believes Carveth's strength comes from its teamwork.

"From the CEO, management, nursing, activation, PSWs, maintenance, kitchen and housekeeping – it takes all of us to allow Carveth to run as it does because we are a Circle of Care."

Throughout her years at Carveth, Nicole has enjoyed working alongside compassionate colleagues and watching many employees grow in their careers.

"I've had the opportunity to work with some pretty caring and amazing people over the years," she said. "Some have stayed, while others have moved on, but it's been wonderful to see people grow in their field."

Today, Nicole takes great pride in her role on the Housekeeping team.

"We help each other to keep the home disinfected and clean for the residents, first and foremost," she said. "We also make sure things are stocked, cleaned and organized for the PSWs and nurses whenever needed."

Housekeeping and Maintenance Supervisor Mark Campbell said Nicole's dedication and professionalism were especially evident during Carveth Care Centre's recent Accreditation Canada survey.

"Nicole consistently goes above and beyond every day, and her hard work certainly didn't go unnoticed during our Accreditation Canada meetings with the surveyors," Mark said. "They recognized the cleanliness and organization throughout our home, and Nicole played an important role in that success. She takes tremendous pride in her work, supports her teammates without hesitation, and truly lives our Circle of Care philosophy. We are incredibly grateful to have her as part of the Carveth family."

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and friends and expresses her creativity through art. An avid gardener, she jokes that "dirt is my second-best friend."

Looking ahead, she hopes to one day travel to New Zealand, as well as fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing whales in their natural habitat.

For those considering a career in long-term care, Nicole offers heartfelt advice that reflects her compassionate approach to the profession.

"Care for the residents as you would want your own family cared for – and as you would want to be cared for yourself."

Nicole's dedication, teamwork and genuine compassion make her a deserving recipient of Carveth Care Centre's August 2026 Employee of the Month recognition. Congratulations, Nicole, and thank you for helping make Carveth such a welcoming place for residents, families and fellow team members.
